The Holy Quran

The final revelation from God to humanity

What is the Quran?

The Quran (also spelled Qur'an) is the holy book of Islam. Muslims believe it is the literal word of God, revealed to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through the Angel Gabriel over a period of 23 years (610–632 CE).

Written in classical Arabic, the Quran consists of 114 chapters (surahs) and over 6,200 verses (ayahs). It is the most widely memorized book in human history — millions of Muslims around the world have committed the entire text to memory, word for word.

Key Themes of the Quran

The Oneness of God

The Quran's central message is that there is only one God, worthy of all worship. It calls humanity to recognize their Creator and build a direct relationship with Him — without intermediaries.

Guidance for Life

The Quran provides moral, ethical, and spiritual guidance on how to live a good life — from family relationships and business ethics to caring for the poor and resolving disputes justly.

Stories of the Prophets

The Quran recounts the stories of prophets like Adam, Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses), and Isa (Jesus) — drawing lessons of faith, patience, and trust in God from their lives.

Justice & Compassion

The Quran repeatedly commands justice, even toward one's enemies: "O you who believe, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for God, even if it be against yourselves." (4:135)

Preservation

Unlike many ancient texts, the Quran has been preserved in its original Arabic without any changes for over 1,400 years. God declares in the Quran: "Indeed, it is We who sent down the message, and indeed, We will be its guardian." (15:9)

The Quran was both written down and memorized by heart during the Prophet's lifetime. Today, the text used across every country in the world is identical — letter for letter. This is unparalleled among any other religious scripture.
