About Masjid Al-Barakah
A place of blessing for the Broomfield community
Our Story
In the summer of 2025, a dream that the Muslim community of Broomfield had held for years finally became a reality. After months of searching, fundraising, and prayers, we acquired a building at 6855 W 119th Ave — a place we could finally call our own. We named it Masjid Al-Barakah, meaning "The Mosque of Blessings," because that is exactly what this journey has been: one blessing after another.
The building wasn't a mosque when we found it. It was an older commercial property that had seen better days — but we saw something else. We saw a prayer hall where families would gather for Jumu'ah. We saw classrooms where children would learn the Quran. We saw a community center where neighbors of all backgrounds would come together. Where others saw worn carpet and aging walls, we saw potential, and we got to work.
For the past six months, volunteers from across the Broomfield area — and even neighboring cities — have been pouring their time, skills, and hearts into transforming this space. Electricians, painters, carpenters, engineers, teachers, students, and families have all contributed. Every weekend, the building has been alive with the sound of construction, laughter, and community.
The Renovation
Renovating a building into a functioning masjid is no small undertaking. Our volunteers have worked tirelessly to create a space that is welcoming, functional, and beautiful. The renovation has included:
- ✓ Complete interior redesign of the main prayer hall
- ✓ New carpet, lighting, and climate control systems
- ✓ Dedicated wudu (ablution) facilities for men and women
- ✓ Separate prayer areas for brothers and sisters
- ✓ Classrooms for weekend Islamic school programs
- ✓ A multipurpose community hall for events and gatherings
- ✓ Updated electrical, plumbing, and safety systems
- ✓ Landscaping and exterior improvements
While much has been accomplished, our renovation is an ongoing effort. There is always more to do, and we welcome anyone who wants to contribute — whether through volunteering, donations, or simply spreading the word.
Our Mission
Masjid Al-Barakah exists to serve as a spiritual home and community anchor for Muslims in Broomfield and the surrounding areas. Our mission is to:
Worship
Provide a clean, welcoming space for the five daily prayers, Jumu'ah, Taraweeh, and Eid celebrations.
Education
Offer Quran classes, Islamic studies, Arabic language courses, and youth programs for all ages.
Community
Build bridges with our neighbors, host interfaith dialogues, and serve the broader Broomfield community.
Why Broomfield?
Broomfield is home to a growing and diverse Muslim population. For years, families in the area have had to travel significant distances to reach the nearest mosque — often driving 20 to 30 minutes each way for daily prayers, and even further for community programs and weekend schools.
Masjid Al-Barakah changes that. Located right in the heart of Broomfield at the intersection of community and convenience, our masjid means that Muslim families no longer have to choose between their daily obligations and their spiritual practice. Children can attend Islamic school without long commutes. Elderly community members can walk to the masjid for Fajr. Families can break their fast together during Ramadan without rushing across town.
More than just a place of worship, Masjid Al-Barakah is becoming a neighborhood landmark — a place where all of Broomfield is welcome, where community meals are shared, and where the values of compassion, generosity, and service are lived every day.
