Fitrana — obligatory before Eid al-Fitr prayer
Zakat al-Fitr (Fitrana) is obligatory on every Muslim who possesses food in excess of their needs. It must be paid before the Eid prayer to ensure it reaches those in need on time. The recommended amount for 2026 is $15 per person in your household.
