A simple introduction

What Is Islam?

Islam is the faith of worshiping one God, living with purpose, and growing in mercy, honesty, prayer, and service.

For visitors

A welcoming place to learn

These pages are written for neighbors, guests, students, coworkers, and anyone curious about what Muslims believe and how a masjid serves the community.

One God, One Human Family

Muslims believe there is one Creator who made every person with dignity. In Arabic, God is called Allah. Islam teaches that our lives have meaning: to know God, worship Him, care for people, and live with integrity.

A Faith Shared by Prophets

Muslims believe God sent prophets throughout history, including Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad, peace be upon them. Their central message was the same: worship God alone and live righteously.

A Way of Life

Islam includes belief, worship, character, family life, charity, and community. It is not only a private belief; it is a daily path of becoming more grateful, patient, truthful, and compassionate.

The Meaning of Islam

The word Islam is connected to peace, surrender, and devotion. It means choosing to turn toward God with the heart, mind, and actions. A Muslim is someone who seeks to live in that surrender, not perfectly, but sincerely and with a desire to keep returning to what is right.

What Islam Looks Like in Daily Life

For many Muslims, Islam is experienced through ordinary rhythms: waking for prayer, thanking God before meals, caring for parents, giving charity, avoiding harm, asking forgiveness, and trying to treat others with fairness. The faith is meant to shape both worship and character.

Why Community Matters

A masjid is not only a prayer room. It is a place where people learn, grieve, celebrate, volunteer, raise children, welcome guests, and help neighbors. Islam encourages people to worship God together and to carry that worship into service beyond the walls of the mosque.

Core belief

There is no god worthy of worship except Allah.

Daily practice

Prayer, charity, fasting, reflection, and service.
